Focus on Hypermetropia

Understanding Hypermetropia

Hypermetropia (or Far sightedness) is a condition in which the light is focused behind the retina due to the shorter length of the eyeball.  The reason it is called far sightedness is because most patients with hypermetropia have more blurry vision up-close than far away, however, this is a misnomer as patients with Hypermetropia tend to have blurry vision for both distance and near, depending on the severity.

Hypermetropia Signs

Common symptoms include:

  • Blurry vision for far and near
  • difficulty focusing at near
  • headaches
  • sometimes crossing of eyes.
